What Is Delta 8 THC?

The industry’s newest cannabinoid.

Since hemp gained its legal status as a result of the 2018 Farm Bill, its most prized cannabinoid has been CBD. Fast forward two years later and CBD is one of the most publicly accepted cannabinoids to date, and it’s being infused with a range of products. What’s even more astonishing is that big retailers like Bed Bath and Beyond are even carrying CBD products. While no one is taking the much-deserved fame of the popular cannabinoid, there is yet another cannabinoid that is gaining hype, and it’s Delta 9 THC’s (the cannabinoid responsible for the high in marijuana) close relative, Delta 8 THC.

It is a powerful cannabinoid that has recently gained a sudden rush of attention, and we’ll tell you why. Delta 8 THC is derived from hemp, it is an isomer of CBD, and it is ultimately a cannabinoid found in hemp. Since it is a hemp product with 0.3% Delta 9 THC or less, the use of the cannabinoid is completely legal. What’s even more exciting is that Delta 8 THC is psychoactive, meaning it will get you high.

History of Delta 8 THC

While it may same as if it’s a new cannabinoid, it was identified in cannabis as far back as 1975. Researchers discovered that Delta 8 was able to shrink cancerous tumors in rats, then in 1995, researchers learned that Delta 8 could eliminate nausea with pediatric cancer patients. While there is definitely more research used using Delta 8 THC, there is still not quite enough. Most information regarding the cannabinoid comes from real personal experiences by users themselves.

The Difference Between Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC

Both Delta 8 and Delta 9 THC is extremely similar. In fact, they both contain double bonds, they both bind to the CB1 receptor, they’re both psychoactive compounds, and they both have a similar structure and have similar properties. Truly, there are no real differences between Delta 8 THC and Delta 9 THC, except for one. The most noticeable difference between the two is the psychoactive effects it offers. While both of them are psychoactive compounds, Delta 8 is less potent and provides a more subtle, clear-headed high, compared to Delta 9 THC. The only other difference is that one comes from hemp (Delta 8), and the other comes from marijuana (Delta 9)

What Type of Delta 8 Products Are Available?

There are many products that have surfaced since the cannabinoid has surfaced. The most popular has become Delta 8 Vapes, more specifically, the Superstrain Delta 8 Disposable Vape Pen. Superstrain is quickly becoming one of the most recognized brands within the space for its heavy focus on premium Delta 8 products that range from Delta 8 Gummies to Delta 8 THC Tinctures. There are many options to explore, which can go from dense and flavorful vapor clouds to small drops of Delta 8 oil.

Where Can You Buy Delta 8 THC?

Although there are several online stores to buy Delta 8 from, you may want to be careful who you buy your products from. You should only trust reputable brands that have established themselves. Superstrain is one of the most recent brands to launch and they’re backed by a familiar company that is experts in the vapor products industry.
